The Electoral Commission (EC) says the ongoing presidential and parliamentary elections in all 276 constituencies across the country have so far been smooth.
Addressing the media at the national collation centre at its headquarters in Accra, Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa said reports from its officers indicate that the elections are “proceeding well across the length and breadth of this country and confident that it will also end successfully.”
She said as a testament of the Commission’s values for transparency, accountability, integrity, inclusiveness and responsiveness, over 10,000 media organisations have been granted access to provide the public first-hand verified information on all aspects of its work.
She said the media since 1992 were only given access to the national collation centre during the declaration of the presidential ballots.
According to Madam Mensa, the media has, however, in the 2024 elections been granted access to all polling stations, constituency, regional collation centres as well as the national collation centre to help eliminate or reduce suspicions that has often characterised its work in the past.
The EC Chairperson also disclosed that Ghanaians in the next three days will be provided with updates from all the polling stations and constituency centres across the country.
She further encouraged voters to reach out to EC officials at the various centres in case they face any challenge at any of the voting centres.
