Yendi MP C’ssions Water Systems For 3 Communities

THE MEMBER of Parliament for the Yendi constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, has commissioned a community-based water project in the Yendi municipality of the Northern Region.

The Yendi MP handed over the water project to three beneficiary communities namely Bagbani, Nayillifong and Guntingli.

Addressing residents at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Aliu Mahama said the project formed part of his comprehensive water extension programme aimed at extending potable water to major communities of the constituency.

The Yendi MP reiterated his commitment to actualising his vision of touching every nook and cranny of the constituency in terms of education, water, health and other developmental projects.

He, however, urged the beneficiary communities to ensure that they maintained the water systems to enable them have frequent water supply.

Chiefs and opinion leaders of the beneficiary communities thanked the Yendi MP for coming to their aid by providing them with potable water.

Some residents indicated that the lack of potable water had greatly impacted on economic activities in the various communities.

They disclosed that the lack of potable water had pushed some of them who were unable to buy water from the water tanker contractors to walk long distances in search of potable water or compelled to make do with water from a dam.
