Sheikh IC Quaye, Chairman of Hajj board
A youth group in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region has congratulated the newly constituted Hajj Board.
It disclosed that former managers of the Hajj Board must be probed and prosecuted, if found culpable.
The Vigilantes For Better Zongo believes that Sheikh IC Quaye and his team can steer the affairs of the Hajj Board successfully.
The leader of the group Jambeidu Issahaku Khan emphasized the need for forensic investigation into the previous Hajj operations to establish factors that led to the whopping indebtedness.
The immediate-past head of the Hajj management, Hon Ibrahim Tanko, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yagaba-Kubori, the group said, can assist the reconstituted body to understand the hitches which beclouded the exercise.
According to the group, any attempt at overlooking the causes of the challenges which bedeviled the Hajj last year could have negative effect on this year’s pilgrimage.
“That is why a thorough investigation into it must be undertaken now,” the group said.
“There are a lot of lessons to be picked from the operations from the previous managers of the Hajj. Let Sheikh I.C. Quaye and his team therefore insist on accountability so subsequent Hajj operations would be devoid of avoidable challenges.
