Zongo Youth To Benefit From Free Tech Skills Training

Prospective trainees registering for the programme

Hundreds of Zongo youth are set to benefit from a free transformative orientation and recruitment programme aimed at empowering them with essential technological skills and sustainable employment opportunities.

The programme, which is being rolled out by Alhaji Abass Dawud, a dedicated philanthropist, in strategic partnership with Coldsis Ghana, Tumi Tech, and Secure Central, is designed to equip Zongo youth with highly employable tech skills, irrespective of their prior technical background or formal educational qualifications.

It directly addresses the pressing challenge of unemployment and limited access to job opportunities in the rapidly expanding tech sector and other related fields that many young people in these communities face.

Approximately 300 enthusiastic participants attended the inaugural orientation and recruitment, during which attendees were thoroughly taken through the expectations and potential challenges associated with the various courses and programmes.

They were also enlightened on the vast prospects their chosen fields offer and how these skills can significantly scale their professional lives and career trajectories.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative last Saturday, Alhaji Abass Dawud stated that “Our Zongo youth possess immense potential, creativity, and a hunger for success, and I am happy with the turn out, this explains that, our youth are not lazy, all they want is opportunities to do something great.”

The comprehensive programme will offer participants Tailored Tech Skill Training with a strong emphasis on practical application, ensuring hands-on training in various in-demand technological areas.

It also includes Intensive Cohort-Based Learning where the initial phase will see 30 selected individuals embark on a three-month intensive training programme covering critical areas such as cyber security, entrepreneurship, business support, artificial intelligence, and other essential tech skills.

Subsequent cohorts, also comprising 30 participants each, will follow to accommodate all registered youth.

The co-founder of Coldsis Ghana, Alhaji Yakubu Lantam-Jabar, on his part noted that the programme is designed to unlock potential by providing participants with the practical skills and direct pathways to employment that are crucial in today’s digital economy.

“We believe that by investing in their capabilities, we are not only transforming individual lives but also contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of their communities and the nation as a whole,” he added.

The programme is expected to offer participants direct recruitment pathways and internship opportunities for recruitment into roles within the partnering organisations – Coldsis Ghana, Tumi Tech, and Secure Central.

It will also provide mentorship, support and continuous guidance to ensure participants successfully transition from training to meaningful employment.
