19,181 Trainee Teachers Start National Service

A total number of 19,181 graduate teachers have started their National Service across the country.

They include those who graduated in the 2017/18 academic year, as well as graduates from preceding years.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, urged the trainee teachers to serve the country with diligence.

This was contained in a press release, which was authored by the Public Relations Unit of the Minister of Education on January 15, 2019.

The release said, “The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, has noted that 19,181 graduates of the country’s Colleges of Education have registered for, and have commenced their national service in accordance with the law (National Service Act of 1980, Act 426).

“This comprises teacher trainees, who graduated in the 2017/18 academic year, as well as graduates from preceding years.”

It also said the Minister of Education, popularly known as ‘Napo,’appealed to them to commit themselves to their respective national service roles and serve with diligence to contribute their quota to national development.

The Minister of Education, the statement indicated, congratulated the trainees and wished them success.

He also thanked them for “cooperating with the Ghana Education Service (GES), National Teaching Council and the National Service Scheme in bringing this process to fruition.”
