The mangled taxi at tech junction
TWO people, including a driver, were killed after smashing their Opel Astra car into a stationary 18-tonne articulated truck on a busy highway in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region at the weekend.
While one of the unidentified victims died instantly at the spot, the other person was reported to have given up the ghost on the way to hospital.
It is not clear whether the car with registration number GT 5216 T was stuck in an increasing acceleration or the driver had poor attention on the road leading to the accident which occurred at Tech Junction.
The saloon car, which was heading towards Ejisu, crashed into the stationary truck with its right side and had its roof peeled back. According to the assistant of the truck driver, there were enough warning signs to indicate the danger ahead.
Bystanders said the fully loaded articulated truck parked at one side of the dual carriageway after developing a mechanical fault on Friday, December 29, 2018, in the evening.
The police have since opened investigations into the incident.
