A scene at the screening exercise at Ashaiman
In their latest health screening for women with particular emphasis on breast cancer, the Alliance For Impact Foundation, a health NGO, has referred 20 persons for further examination at the Tema General Hospital.
The decision was borne out of fears that the persons so referred did not pass the screening conclusively.
One hundred and fifty women benefitted from the exercise at Ashaiman, which took place at the Ashaiman Pentecost Church.
According to Hajia Barkisu Abubakar, the founder of the NGO, awareness among women about breast cancer is key in the fight against the disease.
She added that the exercise was aimed at reducing to the barest minimum the incidence of breast cancer-related deaths in the country.
“There are still many women who have never bothered to go for screening for the disease and this is worrying,” she added.
