A WHOPPING $9 billion is needed to help prevent the floods which have been claiming human lives and destroyed several properties in the country for many years.

The staggering amount could be used to construct modern sewage systems and underground gutters, among other amenities, comparable to what exists in Europe.

The new innovations, when eventually carried out across the country, according to expert’s predictions, would contribute to stop the flood menace in the country for good.

John Boadu, Acting General Secretary cum National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made this known during an interview with Otec FM in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

According to Mr John Boadu, who spoke at length on pressing national issues, observed that the flood situation is very alarming and so everybody should support the government to deal with it.

Mr John Boadu said the NPP administration is determined to work assiduously and make the necessary investments to stop the flood quandary for good so as to stop the annual disasters.

He disclosed that the National Flooding Research had been doing in-depth research for some time now to make the perennial flooding a thing of the past in Ghana.
