Opanin Yaw Amissah, the hunter
The 63 year old hunter, Opanin Amissah who went into hiding after allegedly shooting his wife to death has been eventually arrested barely 48 hours after committing the dastardly act.
He was nabbed at a spot between Asamame and Amomooso on Tuesday afternoon. Opanin Amissah reportedly, absconded after killing the woman, Maame Akosua Duah, to avert arrest.
The suspect and the gun, which he used to commit the crime, had since been handed over to police at Adanse Dompoase, by his captors.
Owusu Isaac, the Assemblyman of Bodwesango East Electoral Area, confirmed the report to the paper during an interview on Tuesday.
He said Opanin Amissah and Maame Akosua Duah had married for years at Bodwesango and the couple is blessed with five children.
At a point in the marriage, Opanin Amissah resorted to excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages and this weird behavior angered the wife.
Maame Duah continually threatened to break up from the marriage after all efforts to convince her husband to quit the excessive drinking proved futile.
The Assemblyman said the deceased finally carried out her threat and broke up from the marriage but the hunter refused to accept the wife’s decision.
Opanin Amissah on Sunday afternoon left his house and invaded the house of Maame Duah and threatened the woman to return to her matrimonial home.
Sensing danger, the woman, who was determined not to reunite with the hunter, then left her two-bed room apartment and lodged at her family house.
Around 12 midnight on Sunday when the woman was asleep in her room, Opanin Amissah, secretly broke into the room and shot the woman dead.
