KOSS Board Inducted Into Office

A scene during the induction

A new Board of Governors for Konongo Odumase Senior High School (SHS) has been inducted into office with a call on members to live above reproach in the discharge of their duties.

The board members were also admonished to think about what they could do individually to improve conditions in the school rather than what the school could do for them.

The Regional Director of Education, Mary Owusu Achiaw made the disclosure at the ceremony that saw Dr. Philip Amakye, a nominee of Konongo/Traditional Council and an old boy elected as the new Board Chairman to replace the late Nana Owusu Donkor, who died last July 1st after heading the board for about 20 years.

Mrs. Owusu Achiaw reminded the members of the board that it was a great privilege and honour to be invited to serve on the board of any senior high school because of the relevance of fostering a harmonious relationship between the school and the community in order to ensure adequate support of the community for the school.

The Regional Director implored the board members to pay regular visits to the school and not wait until problems develop in the school before rushing there.

“Know the vision, aspirations and challenges of the school authorities and try to join hands with them to find solutions for the betterment of the school,” she added.

According to Mrs. Owusu Achiaw, the academic excellence of any school depends to a large extent on good discipline and therefore entreated board members to help the school authorities to maintain a high level of discipline at all times to promote effective teaching and learning so as to improve the WASSCE results of the school.

Mrs. Owusu Achiaw advised the headmistress to be conscious of the existence of the board and always consult it on all major issues in order to have peace and order in the school.

The new board also includes the Municipal Director of Education, Rev. Kwame Opoku, the PTA Chairman, Nana Kofi ANtwi II, the Odumasehene and Prince Kwarteng.

Others are Alhaji Razak El-Alawa, representing the old students, Yaw Kwakye and Bernard Owusu-Ansah.

The rest are Bawa Daudu, Nana Oduro Frimpong, the Headmistress and Assistant Headmaster (Administration), who will serve as the secretary to the board.
