Nana Presents Bus To Mafi Kumase SHS

President Nana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has presented a bus to the students and authorities of the Mafi-Kumase Senior High Technical School in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region to fulfill his promise to them.

The President made the pledge about a fortnight ago when he attended the school’s 33rd anniversary and 2nd Speech and Prize Giving Day as the special guest of honour.

The over 700 students of the school had to rely on the inefficient rickety bus because they had no choice.

During the event, the headmaster of the school, Courage Meteku made a passionate appeal to the President to, as a matter of urgency, address some of the major challenges affecting academic work.

The headmaster also revealed that the school lacks bungalows for teachers on campus and workshops for practical training for students pursuing technical courses.

This, he said, has forced the senior house mistresses to sleep in cubicles in the girls’ dormitory to monitor the girls’ movements and activities.

President Nana Addo, in response to the headmaster’s appeal, admitted that while the majority of the schools in the country face similar situations, it is the duty of the government to address the challenges.

He said his administration would tackle challenges facing schools in the country to provide a conducive environment for both teachers and students.

Ten days after the President’s promise, the Headmaster, Courage Meteku was invited to the Ministry of Education in Accra, where he was given the key to a 33-seater Eicher bus by the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh.
