Timothy Armoo Inspires Unemployed Youth

Timothy Armoo

Timothy Armoo, a 23-year-old black British businessman, has challenged Ghana’s unemployed youth to start their own businesses on the internet while in school.

He said they should not expect to get employment in the public service which often turns out to be a fiasco.

The CEO of Fanbytes, a Snapchat video advertising network that helps global brands reach Generation Z at scale, speaking in an interview recently in Accra to BUSINESS GUIDE, said he established his first company – Alfa Tutoring – at age 14; started his second one by name Entrepreneur Express at age 17 but sold it later and now was doing well with his third company – Fanbytes.

“When you are young, it’s the best time to start a business. At 23, I have 12 employees aged between 20 and 23. Because we are young, we have different perspectives of the world because we understand the internet.

“We are part of the generation that grew up with mobile phones. This is a huge opportunity to start building businesses using the internet so don’t look up to someone to employ you. Get smart.”

Timothy is billed to impart this practical business mentoring skills to the youth in Accra at LifeWay Community Baptist Church on 69 Bridge, East Legon on Tuesday, 19th December, 2017.

He is reachable on twitter @timarmoo.

Born and based in London, his business acumen has already accorded him opportunity to start the mentoring talks in New York, USA and Amsterdam.

At age four, he was brought to Ghana to identify himself with his cultural roots, spent 10 years in Ghana and returned to the UK to start his first company.

“In the UK, there’s freedom to start your own business. Youth aged 18 and 19 are making 100,000 pounds sterling a month from technology. I started learning how to programme.”

Asked what has been his inspiration, he noted: “I just typed Youtube and searched for how to create websites. Because I had seen some folks do it, I was positive I could do it also and I did it. So, it is possible for the youth in Ghana to do it too, if they would apply themselves and be disciplined. They should start of by getting ideas and knowing how to get money from investors.”
