The National Media Commission (NMC) has invited 44 media houses to a crucial discussion regarding their broadcast content, which has been flagged for offensive material.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the International Press Centre, aims to address the regulatory implications of their content.
This move is not unprecedented, as the NMC has been working closely with the National Communications Authority (NCA) since 2021 to regulate electronic communications content.
The collaboration seeks to ensure that media content adheres to basic legal and ethical standards while upholding the constitutional guarantee of free expression.
