The 2018 Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) finalist, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) men hockey team, looks poised to winning Ghana’s first male trophy on the continent as they step up their preparations for the upcoming competition scheduled for Egypt in January.

In like manner, their ladies counterparts are eyeing the Authority’s and Ghana’s fifth continental tittle.

A visit to the team’s training session at the National Hockey Stadium saw a highly-motivated group of players going through various training aspects.

Head of Sports of GRA, Ebenezer Frimpong, who guided their ladies team to four continental trophies, disclosed that, this is the time for the men to bring it home, while the ladies chase their fifth.

“Egypt is the headquarters of Africa Hockey Federation, with the President and CEO all based there, and it is the venue we have set ourselves to re-write history at the backyard of Sharkia Hockey Club of Egypt,” he said.

He added, “We want to be the first male team from Ghana to win this trophy, just as our ladies side did, and still remains the only Ghanaian winners.

“Our preparations have covered both coaches, technical handlers and players. With the coaches and technical handlers undergoing series of refreshers’ clinics as they take the players through the five training objectives which are Physical, Technical, Tactical, Psychological and Theoretical.”

“We are leaving no stone unturned,” said Frimpong.
