GFA, Police Partner For Tesano Community Football Pitch

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has partnered with the Ghana Police Service to develop a modern community football pitch at the Police Depot School in Tesano, aimed at boosting grassroots football and widening access for young players.

The project forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen football infrastructure at the community and Colts level, in line with the FA’s long-term youth development drive under its “Power to the Youth” agenda.

Plans for the facility were confirmed after the FA’s Executive Council meeting in January, where all ten Regional Football Association chairmen met to review key development priorities. Expanding grassroots infrastructure emerged as one of the major focus areas.

According to the FA, funding for the Tesano project will come from prize money Ghana earned through participation in the African Inter-Schools Football Championship.

When completed, the new pitch will convert the Police Depot School grounds into a modern, multi-purpose venue for training and matches, benefiting both students and the surrounding community.

Officials say the facility will support structured coaching, talent identification and organised competition, while also providing a safer environment for youth football activities.

The initiative also follows earlier high-level discussions between GFA President Kurt Okraku and CID Director-General COP Lydia Donkor on deepening collaboration between football authorities and security agencies to advance youth development and community engagement.

The Tesano pitch is one of several infrastructure-focused decisions by the Executive Council designed to reinforce the foundations of Ghana football and create more pathways for emerging talent nationwide.
