Fifi Fiavi Kwetey
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sacked Umaru Sanda, a member who has decided to file as an independent candidate in the upcoming Ayawaso East Constituency by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The party’s decision was contained in a letter dated February 17, 2026, and signed by the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
Umaru Sanda’s independent bid, the letter noted, contravenes the party’s standards which states that all members must support a duly elected candidate in electoral processes such as by-elections.
The NDC stated that by breaking ranks with the party, Umaru Sanda automatically forfeits his membership of the party.
The NDC has warned him from using the party’s logo and colours during his campaigns.
