Boy, 9, Drowns In Asokore Mampong Stream

A tragic incident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Asokore Mampong, Ashanti Region, where 9-year-old Tawfiq Abdul-Halim drowned in a stream located between Sawaba and Asokore Mampong.

The young boy, a pupil of Mahad Islamic School, had gone shepherding with his brother. His brother returned home later and informed the family about the incident. The family immediately launched a search, and Tawfiq’s body was recovered from the stream.

Abdul-Halim Osman, the boy’s father, narrated the incident to DAILY GUIDE.

A witness, Abdul Jalil, expressed concern, noting that this is the fourth drowning incident in the same stream over the past five years. He urged parents to supervise their children closely, as they often gather in the area for shepherding.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the body has been taken to the morgue for further examination.
