Assembly Members Deny Adamus Petition Claims

The Concerned Assembly Members of the Ellembelle District have dismissed as false and misleading a media publication alleging that they had petitioned the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over a dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Assembly Members categorically stated that they have no knowledge of any such petition and have not engaged in any discussions or actions relating to the alleged matter.

“We wish to categorically state that this publication is false, misleading, and without any basis in fact. The Assembly Members were not aware of any such petition, neither have we engaged in any discussions nor actions relating to the alleged dispute,” the statement, signed by Banabas Ewereko, Assembly Member for the Asasetre Ebowu Electoral Area, said.

They further explained that there is no existing dispute between the communities and Adamus Resources Limited that warrants any escalation to the sector minister.

According to them, the publication is a misrepresentation of facts and has the potential to create unnecessary tension within otherwise peaceful communities in the district.

The Assembly Members urged the public to disregard the report and cautioned media houses and individuals against the dissemination of unverified information.

“We urge the general public and media houses to verify information before publication and avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims that may undermine peace and stability,” they stated.

They further noted that such unfounded reports could, at best, be the “figment of imagination” of the reporter and could unjustly implicate the sector minister, given that the matter is linked to his constituency.

Reaffirming their position, the Assembly Members stressed that no petition has been filed, no dispute exists as alleged, and that the area remains calm and stable.
