Black Queens
Ghana’s Black Queens have been drawn in a group with Ecuador, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea in the first phase of the intercontinental play-offs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The draw places Ghana in a three-team round-robin group, with the top two teams advancing to the final phase of the qualification tournament.
The Black Queens will begin their campaign against Ecuador before facing Uzbekistan in their second match. They will then round off the group stage against Papua New Guinea.
Ghana must finish in the top two to advance to the final phase and remain in contention for a place at the 2027 World Cup.
In the final phase, the two teams progressing from Ghana’s group will join two CONCACAF representatives, one UEFA representative and Venezuela, the representative from CONMEBOL.
The final phase will be played on a single-elimination basis, with the three winners earning qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Black Queens are chasing their first World Cup appearance since 2007. Ghana missed out on automatic qualification after failing to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), leaving the intercontinental play-offs as their final route to the global tournament.
