Accra To Host 5th IBIA Africa Bunker, Shipping Conference

 

International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), is set to hold a conference on bunker and shipping from today, Tuesday, September 5 to Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.

The three-day conference will feature renowned speakers, insightful discussions, and valuable discussions on bunkering and shipping.

The conference, which will start from 8:00am each day, will also hold a training programme designed to impart critical knowledge about the bunkering industry.

Tahra Sergeant, IBIA Regional Manager: Africa & Conference Chair Paul Maclons, IBIA Africa Chairman and AMSOL Director and Special Advisor are among some of the experts expected to speak at the conference.

Apart from Ghana’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Ambassador Nancy Karigithu, Special Envoy and Advisor on Blue Economy, Executive Office of the President, Kenya who are keynote speakers, the conference will also feature other renowned speakers, hold insightful discussions while providing networking opportunities for participants.

Other speakers expected to lead the discussions at the conference include esteemed industry expert and IBIA board member Nigel Draffin, who has authored 12 books on bunkering.

Among some of the topics to be discussed by the bunker and shipping industry players include Financing the Marine Industry: Navigating Price Mechanisms for Current and Future Fuels, Navigating Regulatory Changes: And impacts on the African Bunker Market among others.

Other key topics that would also be discussed during the IBIA training course are the potential impacts and implications of alternative fuels, prioritising those alternative fuels that are expected to have significant relevance to Africa while newcomers or senior management will also have the opportunity to learn fundamentals of bunkering, practical, commercial, and operational aspects, technical issues, and current regulations, primarily about traditional marine fuels among others.
