Derhnick Coffie flanked by Akuoku and Sekina
Ghana’s duo Isaac Akuoku and Sekina Adams won silver in the boys U- 12 and girls U-14 singles event at the just-ended Champions Bowl Championship held at Luik tennis and recreational facility, Lekki-Nigeria.
The three-day tournament, according to the organisers, will serve as a qualifier into World Masters Championship Bowl, an international junior tennis tournament scheduled for Croatia.
It saw Ghanaian Sekina Adams losing in the final to Nigeria’s Blessing Otu 6-1, 6-1 in the girls U-14.
However, Isaac Akuoku 4-6, 7-5, 1-6 loss to Nigerian Michael Nekekpeme in the boys 12 finals meant Isaac Akuoku becomes the second Ghanaian to finish as runner-up.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zion Management Africa Limited, David Derhnick Coffie, said, “I brought this two (Isaac Akuoku and Sekina Adams) for them to get more exposure ahead of the main Champions Bowl Championship.”
He thanked Romeoville Properties Ghana Limited and Ice Up natural mineral water for the duo’s trip to Nigeria.
Derhnick Coffie further called on corporate bodies to support Ghana tennis players, “so we can bring the likes of Frank Ofori, Isaac Donkor, Roger Crawford and Henry Adjei Darko who lifted the flag of Ghana high. When we fail to support these children, we have disappointed our nation Ghana.”
