Anokye Supremo
Anokye Supremo, a Ghanaian hiplife musician, yesterday died in a hospital in India, where reports claimed he has been in coma for days.
He was flown to India to undergo a surgery at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences to remove a tumour in his brain that had affected his eyesight.
But sadly, he couldn’t make it back.
Kofi Adoma of KOFI TV, who followed his treatment in India, confirmed his unfortunate demise.
According to him, the artiste had been in coma for some days since the operation, with the surgeons hoping he would make it.
What started as mere headache rendered Anokye Supremo blind.
Anokye was diagnosed with the ailment when he started experiencing a severe headache, which he thought was a migraine.
The Daddy Lumba look-alike, who recently announced that the tumour in his head had blurred his vision, needed to travel to India to have a surgery. But, he unfortunately passed on.
Anokye was discovered in 2010 in Just Like You, a reality TV show which gave budding artistes the platform to mimic their favourite celebrities.
On that show, he imitated Daddy Lumba. After the show, Anokye who had similar looks as Daddy Lumba plied his trade as a musician.
He had to change his name from DL Junior to Anokye Supremo after he was sued last year by highlife artiste Daddy Lumba, ordering him to stop using his name and stop singing his songs at programmes.
He is known for songs such as ‘Befa Me’, ‘Efri Nea Efire’, ‘Hye Wo Ho Den’, ‘Krom Aye De’ and ‘Hash Wuish’.
