The Atebubu Traditional Council has acknowledged and commended the performance of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Atebubu/Amanten Municipal Assembly, Edward Owusu, and urged him to stay focused so that the area can see meaningful development.
Nana Owusu Acheaw Obrempong II, the Paramount Chief of Atebubu Traditional Area, disclosed this at his palace during a meeting with the Traditional Council and some religious leaders.
Nana Obrempong said since the MCE took over as the political head of the area, he had proved that he is eligible to the task ahead of him. He said one of his attributes is the way he easily interacts with the people and the respect he gives to everybody irrespective of one’s political leaning or social status.
Nana Obrempong said some of the developmental projects the people of Atebubu can boast of since he became MCE less than two years are roads, potable drinking water, hospital equipment, forty (40) bed capacity female ward for the Atebubu Hospital, the training college campus roads and staff bungalows.
The rest are National Health Insurance building, business resource centre and the MCE residence which was burnt down during the era of former President Kufuor, which has been rebuilt by the MCE.
According to Nana Owusu Acheaw Obrempong II, all these projects were undertaken within two years. He said the assembly has managed to use the IGF (Internal Generated Fund) effectively and most of the projects are being done with the IGF for the first time in the area. He therefore commended the MCE for his boldness. He urged him to continue on that path to make sure he succeeds in his endeavours.
He appealed to him that the area needs more development and asked him to fight hard to bring more developments in the area, expressing their full support for him.
The Queenmother of the area, Nana Afua Donyina II, said since his appointment, he has exhibited leadership qualities in discharging his duties as MCE. She praised the MCE for the streetlight from Atebubu to Konkronpe which used to be a source of worry.
The queenmother made mention of the new High Court building which is under construction and hoped that gradually developmental projects would reach all corners of the district.
She however appealed to the MCE and the New Patriotic Party government to complete the projects and the ones left behind by the National Democratic Congress even though they are ongoing projects.
On sanitation, the MCE was commended by the Traditional Council for removing some of the old heap of refuse dump which had been there for generations and urged him to continue to save the area from epidemic.
