The spokesperson for the Vice-President, Dr. Gideon Boako, has donated a Toyota pick-up and 10 motorbikes to the Tano North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ahafo Region to ensure effective day-to-day operations of the party activities.
The donation is meant to facilitate the work of the constituency executives and other party members following concern that they were handicapped in terms of transportation to help achieve the party’s objective to retain the parliamentary seat and secure a landslide victory for President Akufo-Addo in the December 7 general election.
The Toyota pick-up vehicle and the 10 motorbikes were presented to the constituency at a colourful ceremony organised at Duayaw Nkwanta on Sunday.
Present at the ceremony were the Member of Parliament (MP), Freda Akosua Prempeh; Constituency Chairman, Nana Afodwo Bonsu; Municipal Chief Executive, Ernest Kwateng; and other party stalwarts.
Dr. Boako, who doubles as the Economic Advisor to Vice-President Dr. Bawumia and a member of the Ahafo Regional Campaign Team, earlier donated 10 motorbikes to the Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the party for onwards distribution to the various constituencies.
The donor took the opportunity to inaugurate the NPP Drivers Association in the constituency and called on its members to carry out the message of the party to every constituent in the area.
“Do not only tell them what we plan to do for the nation, but also tell them what we have already done, including the various social interventions undertaken by the government in the past three years which are readily evident on the ground to testify to the party’s commitment, dedication and determination to development in unity and freedom,” he stated.
Dr. Boako said this year’s election is about comparison of records between President Akufo-Addo, who is seeking re-election, and his predecessor, ex-President John Dramani Mahama, who is staging a comeback after he was heavily defeated in the 2016 general election.
“We know it’s possible for every nook and cranny of the country to point to something that President Akufo-Addo has done which mattered to people as compared to ex-President John Mahama, who mismanaged the economy.”
The Tano North Constituency Chairman, Nana Afodwo Bonsu, who received the vehicle and the motorbikes on behalf of the constituency, expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Boako for the kind gesture.
According to him, the latest donation formed part of the many interventions Dr. Gideon Boako, who is a native of the constituency, has done in his bid to maintain the Tano North seat for the NPP and increase the presidential votes in the place.
He described the donation as timely in the face of increasing campaigning activities as the elections inch closely to the line, pointing out that the donation would undoubtedly go a long way to augment the party’s efforts and enhance operations.
