The new dormitory
BOLGATANGA SENIOR High School in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region has received a new dormitory block as part of efforts by the government to end the double track system introduced to ease congestion in schools.
The project, executed by Abera Construction Limited, had its funding from the Emergency Projects Unit under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), and it is part of government’s measures of increasing SHS infrastructure across the country.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, who witnessed the official handing over of the project, commended the contractor for his timely completion of the project, adding that the gesture falls in line with the government’s desire to address the infrastructure challenges in schools.
Mr. Yakubu urged the school management to ensure periodic maintenance of the facility as well as other structures in the school and also advised beneficiary students to take their learning seriously and stay away from bad company.
“This project should be put to effective use. I call on teachers and students to improve on their teaching and learning so as to make the region proud,” he said.
Assistant Head of the school, in charge of Administration, Cletus Zuut, assured the Regional Minister that the facility will be put to good use, saying the dormitory had come at a time that the school needed it the most.
Mr. Zuut further indicated that the facility has already received the necessary furnishing, including beds and mattresses from the government, hence it will soon be put to use.
