Adomako Mensah presenting the cheque to Madam Benedicta Pealore in Tamale
As part of its corporate social responsibilities and in fulfillment of its pledge to the Tamale SOS, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has presented a cheque of GH¢25,000 to the children’s home to improve and facilitate its upkeep.
Last year, the power distribution company formally adopted one of the houses and renamed it ‘House NEDCo’.
Having adopted the house, the power distribution company has resolved to engage, interact and bond more closely with the children in the house through regular visits and contacts.
Last year, NEDCo pledged to support House NEDCo with an annual token of GH¢ 15,000.00 for the next three years subject to renewal.
Surprisingly, the company has presented a cheque of GH¢20,000.00 instead of the agreed GH¢15,000.00 and extra amount of GH¢5,000 as a token to support the sports festival of the home.
In a speech delivered by the Director of Services for NEDCo, Mr. Adomako Mensah said the donations by the company is a way of positively touching the lives of the vulnerable children and to make life for others more meaningful as well as ultimately making the world a better place for people to live in.
He asserted that even though NEDCo is not making any profit in its operations, they believe that poverty anywhere affects wealth everywhere hence the widow’s mite of the company.
Programmes Director of SOS children’s villages, Madam Benedicta Pealore thanked the power distribution company for living up to its words and fulfilling its pledge to the children.
She revealed that the facility has a total of 107 children and it depends on such gestures to keep the facility running.
She therefore called on other benevolent organizations, NGOs and corporate bodies to emulate the kind gesture.
