Brit, 2 Ghanaians Arrested At KIA With 38kg Suspected Cannabis

Intercepted Cannabis

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted 38kg of suspected cannabis at Kotoka International Airport arrival terminal, and arrested a British national and two Ghanaians.

The drugs were hidden in false compartments of luggage. Suspects are in custody aiding investigations, as part of NACOC’s stepped-up in anti-trafficking efforts.

The suspects were arrested following an examination conducted by officials NACOC which discovered the suspected narcotics concealed in false compartments of the suitcases.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were working together to transport the substances, which were tightly wrapped and labelled in a manner consistent with international drug trafficking methods.

NACOC has confirmed that the suspected cannabis will be sent to the Ghana Standards Authority for laboratory testing.

Authorities say the arrests form part of intensified efforts toclamp down on drug trafficking through Ghana’s entry points.
