ITÂ WAS a nostalgic moment and a recount of fond memories by old students and teachers of Chiraa Secondary School, now Chiraa Senior High School, during the 40th anniversary celebration of the school at its premises.
The 40years education milestone observed under the theme, â40 Years of Secondary Education, Achievements, Challenges and Prospects,â brought together old students and teachers, Nananom, first headmaster, former and current board of governors among others to fraternise, take stock of their achievements and plan forward.
Addressing the gathering, the headmaster, Nana Francis K. Antwi-Bosiako, said that teachers continue to exhibit hard work and due to that, the school has moved from category C to category B.
He continued, âthe ongoing development projects in the school are more than our challenges. Our biggest challenge, however, is lack of dining hall complex for students to attend dining. Hence students resort to sitting on available stones to eat. This does not sit well with us so I plead with government to add it to the infrastructure needs of the school.â
On her part, the Regional Minister, Awo Banahene, paid a glowing tribute to the founding fathers for their vision and tenacity to establish the school.
She acknowledged that government has provided enough infrastructures to the school. He also urged the teachers to work harder and serve as role models to the students.
The decision to celebrate the 40th anniversary is good because, it affords the school the chance to take stock of past achievements, weaknesses and then plan ahead.
Chiraahene, Nana Afari Minta, graced the occasion and also paid glowing tribute to his predecessor who first conceived the idea of establishing a secondary school for the people of Chiraa.
During the appeal for funds, one of the old students who is now the CEO of Ghana Nut Dr Obed Asante, donated Gh¢100,000 for further development.
