Lawyer Sarfo Abebrese being interviewed
The Coalition of Supporters Unions of Africa (COSUA) has indicated that it would support Morocco to host AFCON 2019 in place of Cameroun.
In an exclusive interview with the founder of COSUA, Ghana and U.S, Lawyer Sarfo Abebrese, the organization pointed out that Morocco is the only African country that can immediately step in to conveniently host the 24-nation tournament, given the immense logistic preparations it has made for the 2030 World Cup bid.
“The 6 new world class stadia that Morocco has erected , coupled with huge infrastructural developments made in Casablanca, Rabat and other host cities will stand the continent in good stead to host AFCON 2019 successfully,” Abebrese stressed.
He added that another additional benefit in hosting the AFCON 2019 in Morocco will be to “convert the 11 ‘Doubting Thomases’ of Africa who voted against Morocco for the hosting of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after they observe a successful hosting of the African Cup in June this year”.
It would be recalled that COSUA, a Pan African NGO which signed a Partnership Agreement with the African Union earlier this year, to use sports to build African unity by mobilizing African sports supporters to support African teams in international sporting competitions, has adopted “MOROCCO 2030” as its campaign brand as an African unity initiative.
