Drivers Appeal For Modern Subsidised Vehicles

Concerned drivers addressing journalists

The leadership of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) has appealed to the government to provide subsidised modern vehicles to help phase out old, polluting ones, improve passenger comfort, and integrate technology for smoother travel experiences.

Addressing journalists in Accra yesterday, the Secretary of the association, Aminu Yussif, said the government’s support would help commercial drivers upgrade the existing public transportation system, making it more efficient, sustainable and user-friendly.

“We humbly urge President John Mahama and his administration to support the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana with adequate vehicles to help strengthen and modernise public transport,” he said.

Mr. Yussif added that equipping drivers with modern vehicles would enhance operations, ensure safer transportation, and improve service delivery to the public.

He lauded recent achievements by the Mahama administration, including easing economic hardship, improving poor road infrastructure, addressing persistent increases in fuel prices, reducing the high cost of spare parts, and stabilising the Ghana cedi.

“Within just one year of the NDC administration, we can confidently say drivers have witnessed significant decreases and stability in fuel prices, a major factor that determines our daily operations and earnings,” he noted.

Mr. Yussif further commended government for its major road construction initiatives, describing them as a clear sign of commitment to improving transportation and reducing the burden on drivers.

“For us, the concerned drivers, we are committed to contributing positively to the development of the transportation industry and the nation as a whole,” he said.
