Prof. EY Kwawukume shares pleasantries with some senior military personnel
The Family Health University College (FHUC), Ghana’s premier private medical school, has held its third matriculation ceremony for 88 medical students.
They comprised of 56 graduates and 32 regular students who are expected to undergo their respective programmes of study covering four and six years respectively.
Prof Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, President of the FHUC, told guests at the matriculation ceremony that the university offers admission to students from Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Britain, USA, Canada, among other countries.
He further stated that the core vision of the university is to work towards gaining recognition as a centre of excellence for medical education and services in Africa and beyond.
The Managing Director (MD) of Tropical Cables & Conductors, Dr Tony Oteng-Gyesi, urged government to follow through on its promise to remove the 25 percent corporate tax on private tertiary education institutions.
He added that such a move by government will be a great incentive for FHUC and other private tertiary institutions to expand their services.
“It is good news that this government sees the private sector as the engine of rapid growth of our nation and it is on this premise that I call for a regulatory mechanism to ensure that the tax freedom is not abused,” he stated.
Dr Oteng-Gyesi described FHUC as institution which is poised to take medical education to whole new level as a result of personalities it engages as faculty members.
Advice
The MD charged the students to take advantage of the huge body of human knowledge now available literally at the tip of the finger to always broaden their knowledge of best medical practices.
“My greatest wish for you is to be an active player in this multidisciplinary world enriching your experiences adequately in IT and drawing linkages into your profession and those of others,” he advised.
