First Sky Group, a wholly-owned Ghanaian conglomerate, has held its 19th-anniversary thanksgiving service, to honour God for His unmerited favours received within the year.
The ceremony held at the International Conference Centre was attended by Rev Professor Paul Frimpong Manson, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church and Executive presbytery of the Church, Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, Past Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, General Overseer of Action Chaple International, Vice President of Liberia, Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister in Charge of Sanitation, Peter Amawu, MP for Hohoe Constituency, Justice Jones Dotse, Justice of the Supreme Court and others.
The celebration was under the theme, “Out of God’s abundance, we have received grace upon grace.”
Executive Chairman for First Sky Group, Dr. Eric Seddy Kutortse said the company acknowledges the grace of God and put him first in all their dealings.
He also announced the birth of another subsidiary called First Sky Energies which is a new company in the energy sector that will serve Ghana and beyond.
Touching on the pandemic and its negative impact on the world, Dr. Kutortse said First Sky Group was also affected but the good news was that none of their employees was lost, laid off, or had their salaries cut off but rather their numerical strength kept increasing.
Adding that ” We currently have about five thousand three hundred workers comprising permanent, casual and direct and indirect employees.”
The First Sky Group has to spend Twenty million (Ghc20Million) on a free Dialysis project for patients with kidney problems who frequent the dialysis unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and currently sponsoring the establishment of a modern Kidney Transplant in Ghana to serve patients within the country and beyond.
He appealed to the government to consider making at least two sessions of dialysis a part of the medical services covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme.
“This is achievable because partial coverage of dialysis treatment cost is being practiced in other countries including Kenya and South Africa.
Adding that” I hope that you will consider this suggestion as it will improve the quality of life of these patients, Majority of whom are a young, economically productive group of the Ghanaian society and who can potentially be integrated back into society with adequate treatment.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo whose speech was read by Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah said the government is committed to building a strong and healthy economy to withstand any greater catastrophe in the future.
“The thanksgiving service is an appreciation of what God has done in the years past. It is only by the unmerited favors of God that we have been able to achieve what we have. The economies of nations have been shaken and butted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government is committed to creating a sustainable private sector through policies and programs for sustainable national development,” she noted.
Adding, she said, “The group has partnered with government in the area of health care by supporting kidney patients and through them, the first-ever kidney Transplant operation in Ghana was also done.”
He commended Dr. Erric Seddy Kutortse for being the first to donate towards the construction of the National cathedral complex, a project to show appreciation and trust in God.
She encourages churches and individuals to contribute to the construction of the National cathedral.
