Freddie Blay Meets Chinese Investors

Acting Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, on Monday met some Chinese businessmen at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra to discuss investment opportunities in Ghana.

Mr Blay expressed delight at plans by the delegation to invest in key areas of Ghana’s economy, adding that China Hua-Yang Group is a very powerful entity.

He said “China deals on a state level and the party in power will approve of what you want to do as well as make it possible for you to deal nicely with the Ghanaian people.”

He said, “They have bought into the government’s programme of creating more jobs. They have bought into the government’s programme of One District, One Factory, among several other very interesting projects and programmes that the government wants to do so that we can create jobs for the teeming masses in our country”.

Mr Chang, leader of the delegation, said they would build oil refineries and petrochemical industries in the country, among others.

He said China with a huge population, has been able to address its unemployment challenges, adding that the group would assist Ghana to make investments in key areas of the economy and create more jobs for the youth.

The delegation comprised experts and technical men from various departments of China Hua-Yang who would conduct feasibility studies.

“We have come with a strong team made up of staff from Hua-Yang in Beijing and Hong Kong in charge of overseas investment. We also came with some technical members from Hua-Yang refineries in China to show that we are very serious about this investment,” he said.

He added that they would do something meaningful and wonderful for the people of Ghana, as they have done in China.

Asked why they chose Ghana, the leader of the delegation, said the two governments have good relations, with corresponding programmes.

The delegation is expected to meet government to finalize plans.
