Bukom Square in Gamashi, the heart of Accra Central, will tomorrow, Saturday, August 6, host some of the finest musicians in Ghana, including Tinny, Edem, Wisa, Luther, Supt Kof Sarpong, Screw Face, Shiloo, Apaatse, Nii Funny and several others at a free music concert to climax entertainment activities for his year’s edition of the Gamashi Homowo festival.
It is the official party for the Homowo, and is organised by Lyrics & More, in partnership with Kasapa 102.5 FM, to give residents of Gamashi and its environs an opportunity to party with the music stars and also to give budding musicians in the community a platform to showcase their talents in music and dance.
It is expected to attract thousands of music lovers to the all-night-long music concert that has already generated some buzz in-and-around the Gamashi area.
For several years, the community has not witnessed a music concert that has a tight list of top class musicians at its Homowo concerts.
The organisers, Lyrics & More, explained that because the Homowo festival in a happy event celebrated by the people of Greater Accra to remember how they overcame hunger in ancient times, it makes sense to give the community a free mega music concert to mark the celebration.
“Moreover, our lead artiste, Nii Funny, comes from the community and the only way we can pay the people of Gamashi for the massive support they have given to his career is to invite our friends and seniors in the music industry to join us on one stage to hold one big united party for one united Gamashi,” the organisers added.
Social media and the ‘streets’ have gone agog with a heated debate on which of the performers would emerge the biggest act of the night.
Dunsin, the popular music trio which released the ‘Oyeadeyie’ hit song, will also be on stage. There will be a big surprise artiste on the night, the organisers added.
Tinny, a pioneer of Ga rap music with some 13 years of releasing back-to-back music hits, has been highly tipped my many to steal the show, especially because his music resonates very well with the community.
Meanwhile, the VRMG boss, Edem, has an equally high rating in the community which has remained loyal to him since he burst on the music scenes in 2008.
Then, there is the much younger music lovers who are betting over Wisa of ‘Ekiki Me’ fame, Luther, Nii Funny of ‘Yooko Ebreaki Me’ fame, King Jerry and Apaatse.
Screw Face of ‘Gbalagazaa’ fame and Shiloo have also earned a huge following in and around Gamashi.
