God Supported My Divorce- Ohemaa Mercy

Isaac Twum Ampofo and Ohemaa Mercy

Gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has revealed that her decision to divorce her husband, Isaac Twum Ampofo, was guided by divine confirmation from God.
In an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3, she said that God directed her to take that step so she could fully dedicate herself to her ministry.
Reflecting on her journey, Ohemaa Mercy explained that during the COVID-19 pandemic, she sought spiritual guidance and spent months in prayer to understand God’s will for her life. “I depended solely on God for direction. I had a strong covenant with Him. I went to the mountains to pray for three months… When I heard it clearly, I took that bold step. I had confirmation from God; if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have done it,” she disclosed.
She further noted that after her divorce, she felt an overwhelming presence of God in her life, more than she had ever experienced while married. “I give God the glory because I am divorced, but this is the time I have seen the hand of God so strong on my life,” Ohemaa Mercy stated.

Her ex-husband, Isaac Twum Ampofo, reportedly understood and supported the decision.

The two agreed to maintain a cordial relationship, co-parent their children, and continue supporting each other. “We talk every day and continue to support each other. My priority is to honour God, and that’s why we decided on this path,” she added.

Ohemaa Mercy and Mr. Twum were married in October 2002 and had been together for several years before deciding to part ways.

According to the singer, their divorce was part of God’s plan, allowing her to fully embrace her calling in ministry.
