The residents expressing their displeasure on the street
AGGRIEVED RESIDENTS of Golf City, suburb of the Kpone-Katamanso of the Greater Accra Region have embarked on a demonstration to protest bad roads in the area.
According to the residents, government has failed to repair the community’s road networks even though they always vote massively for the party.
They indicated that their attempts to get the previous government to pay attention to their plight had proved futile, and hence their decision to draw the attention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to their predicament.
Some residents also accused the National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams of allegedly diverting road construction materials meant for the whole area to rehabilitate only the roads around his house.
They claimed that “During NDC regime, no sooner had a contractor begun work on the roads than Kofi Adam appeared from nowhere and asked him to send the materials to his house which is also in the area.”
“If you go to his house now, you will see that only the road in front and behind his house have been tarred leaving us to inhale the dust. He doesn’t know that when he comes out of his house he will still use the dusty and deplorable road.”
The residents have therefore appealed to the government to, as a matter of urgency, tar the French Man, Ada Junction and Timber Market-Gold City roads for them which, according to them, are always impassable after a heavy rain.
Douglas Asante, a resident faulted the state for turning a blind eye on the roads in the area, saying it needs urgent attention.
“I have confidence in this government because it is the only government which so far is fulfilling most of the promises it made to Ghanaians. I want to appeal to the President to please construct our roads for us.”
Motorists plying the route decried the pathetic condition of the road saying the recent inclement weather had made travelling on it a nightmare.
