Community members dinning at the church auditorium. INSET: Some members being served at the community day
The Grace Mountain Church has organized its maiden community day with the members of the Ofankor-Seven-days community.
In all, about 300 members of the community received brand new clothes, shoes, underwears, printed fabrics such as GTP and Veritable Holland Wax, as well as foodstuffs such as rice and oil.
Speaking to Pastor Elvis Agyeman, the Founder of the Grace Mountain Church, he indicated that the church had been looking forward to affect the society and to demonstrate the love of God since they relocated to the Ofankor-Seven-days community some three years ago.
According to him, the church decided to hold the community day in order to dine with the members of the community while meeting their needs both physically and spiritually which he said was the main responsibility of the church.
He said: “The church is not to snatch money or to defraud members of the community but to preach Christ. The church was established for all and our main focus is to affect our surroundings with the Christ-like nature that we have”.
“We have given out new clothes, shoes, underwears and footwears. Some of the clothes cost as much as GH¢200 and we went through the pain to get it for them in order for them to know that we are not giving them leftovers but we truly love them” he stated, adding that “we also had quite a number of old women who received GTP cloth and Veritable Holland Wax Prints”.
Pastor Agyeman revealed that the community day would be organized at least three times every year adding that for this year, the next community day would be held in December.
“ . . . We hope to have a big Christmas celebration with the community and we will go every extent to reach out to those who are in need; we will raise funds to do that for the community” he pointed out.
“We hope the next community day will attract hundreds of people to come and dine with us,” he added.
