Helen Matey
Twenty three-year-old Ghanaian beauty queen, Helen Demey Matey, will be representing Ghana at the 2018 edition of Miss Grand International beauty pageant in Myanmar.
She beat several other ladies to be crowned Miss Grand Ghana, and she is now ready to take the world stage at the international event which is scheduled for October.
It will be the second time a Ghanaian beauty queen is appearing on the Miss Grand International stage since its inception in 2013.
Helen Demey Matey is a BSc. Banking & Finance student at the University of Professional Studies (UPS).
She has some good experience to push brand Ghana out there in Myanmar.
A native of Somaya in the Eastern Region of Ghana and past winner of the Miss Yilo 2013 and Queen of Peace Africa 2015 beauty pageant, Helen is being supported by the Yilo Klo Traditional Area and paramountcy to represent Ghana at the Miss Grand International beauty pageant.
She is expected to gain some experience which she will use to lead a campaign against teenage pregnancy and child literacy issues which are rampant in the area upon her return.
Helen, who is also a model, was officially outdoored at the launch of the Oklepeme Foundation, the official charity arm of the office of Yilo Klo paramountcy at Somanya on Saturday, June 30 2018.
She has also started a school tour to talk about child education and sexual and reproductive health education as part of her responsibilities.
