Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi
THE MAYOR of Kumasi, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has disclosed that he sleeps for four hours daily due to the nature of his work and his desire to succeed.
According to him, he virtually works in the morning, afternoon, and evening because his work demands constant monitoring and prompt action.
The Kumasi Mayor said his doctors have advised to detain him for three days after every two months for proper rest and medical checkup due to his less sleeping hours.
Nicknamed as ‘Zuba’, the Kumasi Mayor stated that he has accepted to comply with the doctor’s admonishment, stressing that he is determined to make a positive change in Kumasi as mayor.
“I almost work for 24 hours daily. I work in the morning, afternoon, evening and even at night. I sleep less than four hours in a day because I want to live up to expectations.
“My personal doctors have advised that they will detain me for three days after every two months for checkup so I can rest properly, and I have accepted the doctor’s advice,” he said.
Speaking in an interview with Kojo Marfo of Fakye TV, Zuba said he sleeps less because “I want to see what is going on, I don’t want people to tell me what is going on in Kumasi.”
According to Zuba, even though he was appointed into office by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, he always wants to work assiduously to the satisfaction of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I’m a government worker and that’s a fact. The government appointed me to this high office, but I always say that I’m working for the Asantehene, the overlord of Asanteman.
“I always desire to work to the satisfaction of Otumfuo and Asanteman. I have promised myself not to relax until I fulfil my promise of changing the face of Kumasi to Otumfuo,” he said.
