The late JB Danquah-Adu
Dr. Lawrence Edusei, the pathologist who performed the post-mortem on the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, JB Danquah-Adu (fondly called JB), has once again left state prosecutors wondering about his whereabouts.
The pathologist does not appear to be ready to release the autopsy report as directed by an Accra Central District Court.
He has once again failed to appear before the court, although it (court) had earlier made it expressly clear that he should appear before it to explain reasons why he could not release the report.
Dr. Lawrence Edusei, a retired pathologist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, on January 4, 2018, told the court that his home was burgled and that he had lost quite a number of autopsy reports.
He could however, not tell the court whether the late JB’s post-mortem report was among those stolen.
He was subsequently asked by the court what he would need to reproduce a new report.
Dr Edusei said re-writing the report would require additional work to be done, stating that he would need access to all pictures taken during the post-mortem so that he could “take a good look at them to recollect.”
But when the case resumed yesterday, the pathologist was, as usual, nowhere to be found.
The prosecution, led by DSP George Amega, told the court, presided over by relieving Magistrate Gloria Laryea, that the pathologist, at the last adjourned date, was asked to submit the report but that had not been done.
Nana Obiri Boahen, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who was watching brief and appalled by the conduct of Dr. Edusei, then got up to register his displeasure.
According to him, the pathologist had consistently absented himself and had once again disrespected the orders of the court saying, “This is a gross disrespect to the Judicial Service.”
He added that he had petitioned the Ghana Medical and Dental Council about the “lackadaisical attitude” of the pathologist.
The magistrate subsequently summoned the pathologist once again to appear before it.
On January 18, 2018, Dr. Edusei told the court that he had received the pictures he requested from the police to help him come out with a new report.
He told the court that he was also working on the autopsy.
Hearing resumes on January 22, 2018.
Two suspects, Daniel Asiedu, 19, aka Sexy Don Don –phone dealer and Vincent Bosso aka Junior Agogo, phone repairer – are before the court for allegedly murdering Mr JB Danquah Adu.
