Kamal-Deen Abdulai
A former Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kamal-Deen Abdulai, has expressed concern about the names of the victims of the injured during the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Kamal-Deen, who is currently a deputy communications director of the NPP, said that names such as Mohammed, Habeeb, Yakubu and Sumaila suggest that the victims are Muslims and of northern extraction who are preferred by bad politicians when these politicians embark on their dirty operations.
“Have we stopped to ask ourselves about who takes the glory and benefits in the end, and have we also asked ourselves whether we are adequately considered when the sharing of rewards is due? My brothers, let us all say no to whoever comes our way to use us for such operations,” he cautioned Zongo boys and persons of northern extraction who form the bulk of persons used for political violence.
Continuing, he said: “We should begin to think smart and start adding value to ourselves as a people while we pray fervently for more developmental projects for our territories and communities”.
He spoke for many elites in the Zongo communities some of whom have called Daily Guide to express disquiet about the incessant use of unemployed youth in these segments of the country for dirty political operations as witnessed in the recent by-election and others preceding it.
Kamal-Deen is the first person to make the headlines on the subject by his bluntness; others only discuss the issue in street corner gossips.
Now that he has spoken, the floodgates are open for others to join in the parley in the Zongo communities about the misuse of youth in this part of the country. Ghana has some 1,000 Zongos, with all urban centres having a respectable population of persons of northern extraction or descendants of migrant ancestors.
