NPP youth at the Karaga DEC office
Some angry NPP youth in the Karaga District of the Northern Region on Wednesday locked up the District Chief Executive’s (DCE’s) office, chased away the Youth Employment coordinator and set ablaze a motorbike.
They claimed that the DCE, Alhassan Yabdow, said he would never work together in partnership with the constituency chairman,. Tahiru Zakaria.
The youth accused the DCE of engaging in acts they believed would create divisions and cracks in the party in the constituency.
Spokesman for the youth, Abdul Rahaman Alhassan, told DAILY GUIDE that the district Youth Employment coordinator was being partial and selective in the discharge of his duties.
According to Mr Alhassan, the DCE recently recruited known opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the district for positions that should have been given to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth.
He claimed that the youth had toiled for the party to come to power and so they deserve to be rewarded.
Mr Alhassan hinted that they burnt the motorbike when they did not meet both the DCE and the coordinator.
The angry youth threatened to attack the district assembly if the DCE was not sacked from the area.
Meanwhile, NPP Karaga Constituency secretary, Alhassan Ziblim, said the youth burnt the motorbikes because the DCE was fond of taking decisions without consulting party executives.
They NPP youth have called on the government to immediately sack the DCE else they would forcefully take him out of office.
