Kushini Community Connected To National Grid

The Kushini community in the North East Gonja District of the Savannah region has been connected to the national grid.

The project implemented by the Northern Development Authority(NDA) finally connected the community after residents lived in darkness for several years.

The Chief of Kushini, Mahama Yidaana Achiri, lauded NDA for connecting the community to the national grid.

According to him, the electricity will boost economic activities in the community.

The Savannah Regional Coordinator of Northern Development Authority(NDA), Madam Vivian Adams, at the commissioning, said out of 226 projects under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) in the Savannah region, 32 of the projects have been sited in the North East Gonja district with 15 projects completed.

Madam Adams revealed that the Kushini community has benefited from 3 projects namely a 3-unit classroom block, electrification, and a dam.

She appealed to the community members to maintain the projects for the benefit of the community and its surroundings.

In a related development, the Northern Development Authority(NDA) also handed over a 3-unit classroom block at Nachambaya to the district assembly.

The North East Gonja District Director of Education Representative, Mohammed Tahiru, noted that the 3-unit classroom block will increase enrollment and sustain education in the community and its surroundings.

The North East Gonja District Chief Executive, Mohammed Musah Tindawu, appealed to NDA to complete the cattle market project they started which is currently halted to ensure that it creates revenue for the assembly.

The Salaga North Member of Parliament, Alhassan Abdallah Iddi, who graced the ceremony also thanked NDA for the numerous projects in the constituency and encouraged NDA to complete the Astroturf, water, and electrification projects which have been halted in the constituency for the development of the area.
