Ghanaian guitarist Kwame Yeboah performed for Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family on Monday during the Commonwealth Day service in the UK.
He later took to social media to express his surprise to receive a request to play for the Queen.
The Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe
It celebrates the unity, diversity and links of the modern Commonwealth and to foster greater understanding of the Commonwealth’s achievements and role.
Monday’s service for the celebration, which was broadcast live on BBC radio and television, was attended by the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
The rest include boxing champion Anthony Joshua, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, among others.
The ceremony also included performances from Alexandra Burke and Craig David, who performed with Kwame Yeboah.
In a video he shared on Instagram, Kwame could be seen playing the guitar, while Craig performed the song ‘Unbelievable’.
“Delightfully surprised to be requested to perform for her Majesty The Queen II,” he revealed in an Instagram post after the event.
“Thank you so much my brother @craigdavid. Yesterday you took me somewhere else …,” he added in a different post.
Kwame and Craig have a long working relationship. In 2013, Kwame joined the R’n’B/Garage heartthrob on his ‘2013 World Tour’.
The Ghanaian guitarist has also toured and worked with artistes such as Stevie Wonder, Omar, Shaggy, among others. Kwame is also the keyboardist and music director for Kojo Antwi.
