Kwesi Biney (3rd left) when he was picking his forms
Kwesi Biney, a strong contender in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary race in the Ahanta West Constituency of the Western Region, has submitted his nomination forms as a first step towards leading the party in the December 2020 election.
Mr. Biney who is a former DCE for Ahanta West would be contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Lawyer Kojo Kum, who is seeking re-election for the NPP primaries on April 25.
He told his jubilant supporters including some of the delegates after submitting the forms at Agona Nkwanta that he would defeat the incumbent MP and go ahead to retain the seat for the NPP.
He said the incumbent MP had failed to champion for adequate development projects for the area and as a result, the constituents were calling for a change.
He said considering his track records and the projects he initiated in the area when he was the DCE and the fact that the people of Ahanta West were clamouring for change, he was convinced that he would unseat the incumbent on April 25, 2020.
He said even though he would not describe himself as the ‘Messiah’ for Ahanta West, he was determined to push for development of the area if he went to Parliament, adding “my achievements are all over for people to see and no one can challenge me on some of these things.”
He advised his supporters to continue to campaign vigorously for him but stressed that it should be based on issues and track records and must be devoid of insults, personal attacks and name calling.
