A section of the Muslims at the Central Mosque
Eid-ul-Fitr prayers by Muslims in the Bolgatanga Municipality were said at the Bolgatanga Central Mosque instead of the Craft Village due to the heavy downpour that lasted for hours.
As a result, many Muslims had to pray with their families and friends at home or nearby mosques to mark the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
The torrential rains affected most districts in the Upper East Region.
At the Bolgatanga Central Mosque, the Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Ayine Bukari and other dignitaries, joined a large number of Muslims for the prayers, led by the Upper East Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Adam Yussif.
The Regional Imam was hopeful that the Upper East Region and the entire country would experience a lot of good things this year.
He called on all Muslims, especially the youth, to continue with the sacrifice and good behaviour they exhibited during the month of Ramadan throughout the year, saying “If we continue living in peace with our neighbours and we lead exemplary lives, our neighbours will emulate and soon we will have a community of good and hard-working people to contribute to the development of our communities and the country as a whole.”
Sheikh Adam Yussif commended Muslims, who genuinely went through the month-long fasting and asked others to do same next year to purify their bodies and improve their relationships with Allah.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Ayine Bukari, reminded Muslim youth of their role as peace makers in their communities.
He said that plans are far advanced to commence work on projects earmarked under the Zongo Development initiative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
