Man, 22, Jailed 23 Years For Defilement

AN EX-CONVICT, Kwasi Owusu, 22, has been jailed 23 years by a Techiman circuit court presided over by Alexander Graham.

Kwasi Owusu, who is said to be a farm labourer to the little girl’s father, took advantage of the cordial relationship between him the girl’s family and defiled her.

The incident, which happened at Tuobodom, the Techiman North District capital of the Brong-Ahafo Region, on 15th October, was reported to the Techiman police for investigation.

Prosecuting, Detective Sergeant Deboro told the court that Owusu, who was jailed before on a charge of stealing, worked with the little girl’s father and due to that became a friend of the family.

He said in the absence of the parents, Owusu lured the girl into a corner and defiled her. A medical report confirmed that the minor was penetrated. The judge, Alexander Graham, consequently sentenced Owusu to 23 years’ imprisonment term on his own plea.
