Joseph Adda addresses the media
Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, has indicated that airline operators have expressed confidence in Ghana’s air services sector.
The Minister said this while speaking to journalists on Wednesday at the Aviation Ministry in Accra.
He said many leading airlines were beginning to fly in and out of the country daily.
According to the minister, the rising confidence level presents an opportunity for Ghana to further develop its aviation industry.
He observed that developing the sector would create employment opportunities, especially for the youth, as well as wealth.
The minister told journalists that there were plans to build more airstrips, as government hopes to construct airports nationwide to promote air travel and attract international tourists.
Deputy Aviation Minister, Cobbina Darko-Mensah, disclosed that a name has been chosen for the domestic airline and that in due course it would be announced to the public.
He indicated that the rate of air travel was likely to increase this year with the arrival of Unity and Passion Airs.
Acting Managing Director of Ghana Airport Company Limited, Yaw Kwakwa, said the completion of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Terminal 3 was attracting a lot of air travelers to Ghana, especially Nigerians.
