The Sports Minister (5th R) explaining a point during the inspection at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region

Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has stated that Ghana will be the ultimate winner when the ten multipurpose youth sports centre of excellence are completed.

So far, the Atwima Mponua MP and National Youth Authority (NYA) CEO, Emmanuel Asigri, have inspected five of the ten facilities dotted across the nation.

The duo expressed gross satisfaction in separate interviews after visits to the Volta, Eastern, Western, Central and Ashanti regions respectively.

Visits to the above mentioned facilities showed a major progress of the multipurpose youth resource centre of excellence which is expected to be completed soon.

And to the elated Sports Minister, the facility forms part of government’s plans to provide platforms for the youth to discover and develop their talents.

The Sports Minister told the media after inspecting the Nyinahin Multipurpose Youth Sports Centre of Excellence that “Government is serious, so we have paid all the contractors; the NYA CEO is committed so we don’t owe any contractor. I am impressed with progress of work at all the places we have conducted the inspection.

“Certainly, this is a good story to tell Ghanaians; it is a fulfilled promise by the president Akufo-Addo administration. In the next few months, the president will join us to commission all the projects.

“When completed, it will benefit the youth of this country. It’s a long term planning to address the country’s sports problems. Sports has taken a nosedive recently due to lack of facilities.

“You have no idea the number of talents that will emerge in the coming years because of these facilities.”
The Multipurpose Sports Centres house football pitches, volley/ basketball courts, hostels, tartan tracks, ICT/counseling centres and restaurants.
