Nana Congratulates New French President

President Akufo-Addo and newly elected French President, Emmanuel Macron

President Akufo-Addo has sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected French President, Emmanuel Macron.

In a statement issued under his own hand, he indicated, “I join well-wishers all over the world in congratulating the newly elected President of the Republic of France, M. Emmanuel Macron, on his decisive victory in the presidential election run-off, held over the weekend.

“I applaud the determination of M. Macron in his speech, to ‘fight the divisions that undermine France,’ and effect the change the French people voted for.”

He thus expressed the hope that Mr Macron would continue in the stead of past leaders of the great French nation in strengthening the ties between France and Ghana, and the entire African continent.

Nana Akufo-Addo sent similar wishes to outgoing French President, M. François Hollande, for his dedicated service to the French people, saying “his efforts in helping to deepen the relations between France and Ghana, and the rest of Africa, are deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten.”
